Art with Heart have collaborated with Ada Eravama to enhance the experience of blind and partially sighted visitors at our banner exhibition. Ada is a visually impaired writer, performer, and access consultant whose work opens up the arts for blind audiences, reimagining access as a creative act and catalyst for artistic innovation.
Ada has created and recorded an audio description for each banner. On this page you will find photos and videos of each banner, click on the video to hear the audio descriptions.
We have created two small tactile banners to give blind and partially sighted visitors the opportunity to explore elements of the exhibition through touch. One banner features eight fabric swatches, representing the different materials used across the full exhibition. The second banner includes raised replicas of selected design elements, such as a sun and a sycamore leaf, to show the style and shapes used in the artwork. Visitors can feel the sewing techniques through raised stitching patterns, and there are also replica woollen tassels that can be touched. The banners are available at reception—simply speak to a member of our friendly front-of-house team, and they’ll be happy to provide them for you.
The banners will be on display in Salford Museum and Art Gallery from Saturday 21st February to Saturday 9th May 2026. The exhibition is free to visit and suitable for all ages. Full information can be found here.
